The purpose of this course is to create a new context for ourselves in relation to difficult and traumatic events. A relationship which says that as well as the potential to develop a mental illness – PTSD – difficult and traumatic events can also result in growth for an individual.
The course looks at trauma as a subjective experience – latter definitions of trauma are considerably broader than in the past and how Covid 19 may fit into this. It looks at what longer-term life satisfaction benefits may be derived from trauma when we look back at what we gained from the experience. The course also looks at how we remain resilient when struggling and how we derive meaning from an event through self-reflection and talking to others.
